But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manfred Albohm couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jonathan Gudmundsson in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sverker Biörnberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sverker Biörnberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Gudmundsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kristian Överman charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kristian Överman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vårgårda BK booed when Lund Lunatics was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kristian Överman didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the game, Jonathan Gudmundsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Sverker Biörnberg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sverker Biörnberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfred Albohm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Johan Brovall kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tomas Hansson. That made the score 1-2 in the 28 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Lund Lunatics's Eskil Isaksson got a free kick in the 34th minute. Sverker Biörnberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manfred Albohm, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Gudmundsson in the 39th minute of play forced Lund Lunatics's goalkeeper Sverker Biörnberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute, Manfred Albohm left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vårgårda BK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jonathan Gudmundsson was the one to do the kick off. Sverker Biörnberg was a little too slow when Jonathan Gudmundsson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 1-4. A hard shot by Andréas Möller from long distance, 59 minutes into the match, got Sverker Biörnberg's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Sverker Biörnberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Gudmundsson in the 63rd minute of play. In the 67thth minute of the game Jonathan Gudmundsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lund Lunatics's Sverker Biörnberg was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Kent Hultin hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Gudmundsson in the 69th minute of play forced Lund Lunatics's goalkeeper Sverker Biörnberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sverker Biörnberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathan Gudmundsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. After having played for 78 minutes, Manfred Albohm managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vårgårda BK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manfred Albohm was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manfred Albohm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sverker Biörnberg having to interfere. Sverker Biörnberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonathan Gudmundsson's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Manfred Albohm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 89 played minutes Jonathan Gudmundsson rounded Lund Lunatics's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-5. Sverker Biörnberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Manfred Albohm in the 92nd minute. If Ingvar Finsberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vårgårda BK's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
