In the 3rd minute Knut Biörkman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ove Strömberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ove Strömberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josef Johansson in the 4th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Åke Nordmark in the 5th minute of play forced VFB Stuttgart's goalkeeper Ove Strömberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Knut Biörkman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Knut Biörkman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the VFB Stuttgart defense, Josef Johansson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ove Strömberg. The VFB Stuttgart fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ove Strömberg should have stopped the shot. 22 minutes into the match, Leif Palmquist notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of VFB Stuttgart's Ove Strömberg. Ove Strömberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ove Strömberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Knut Biörkman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 24 minutes into the game, FK Nokia's Knut Biörkman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ove Strömberg made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bengt-Arne Kråk got free with Jonathan Törnqvist in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ove Strömberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sten Gunnarsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. VFB Stuttgart's Ove Strömberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Knut Biörkman in the 36th minute of play. In the 38th minute, Knut Biörkman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ove Strömberg was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. VFB Stuttgart's Ove Strömberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Knut Biörkman in the 43rd minute of play. 44 minutes into the match, VFB Stuttgart's goal looked a bit too open when Sten Gunnarsson came free, but Ove Strömberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jan Bengtsson made a kick off. FK Nokia's Jonathan Törnqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdemar Sjö in the 55th minute of play. Ove Strömberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan Ahlgren in the 56th minute of the match. Jan Ahlgren lost his temper 58 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 59 played minutes FK Nokia got a freekick which was hit by Jan Ahlgren. Josef Johansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ove Strömberg having to make a save. When Knut Biörkman came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the FK Nokia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Knut Biörkman couldn't finish the play. In the 74th minute, Bengt-Arne Kråk got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Knut Biörkman might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ove Strömberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Knut Biörkman ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 81st minute, Knut Biörkman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ove Strömberg was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Josef Johansson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ove Strömberg having to interfere. With an all-out effort, FK Nokia's Ove Strömberg threw himself towards the right post 87 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Knut Biörkman, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Knut Biörkman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ove Strömberg having to interfere. FK Nokia's Knut Biörkman was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 95th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. When the match was over FK Nokia could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than VFB Stuttgart throughout the match.
