The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Jan Månsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ingemar Asserlind was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Vretstorp's zone, Sven-Erik Algren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michael Ferm came out of the goal and Sven-Erik Algren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 21 minutes, Lennart Bergqvist mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Indal BF and the Vretstorp players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Vretstorp booed when Indal BF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lennart Bergqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brian Lind was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 22nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Olof Berggren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ingemar Asserlind showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan Månsson in the 28th minute of the match. Björn Lundgren hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dan Vennerström in the 33rd minute of play forced Vretstorp's goalkeeper Michael Ferm to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Michael Ferm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dan Vennerström, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 37th minute, Stefan Nyberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dan Vennerström was the one to do the kick off. Dan Vennerström blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Michael Ferm having to make a save. The supporters of Vretstorp booed when Indal BF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ingvar Lingren didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 72 minutes of play, Vretstorp's Olof Berggren made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ingemar Asserlind was left in no man's land by his defense there! 2-2 became the score in the 76th minute when Dan Vennerström elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Ingemar Asserlind showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan Månsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Ingemar Asserlind took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olof Berggren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olof Berggren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Ingemar Asserlind tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Indal BF getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Stefan Kjellman hit a great ball. Indal BF's Ingemar Asserlind played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olof Berggren in the 90th minute of play. In the 91st minute, Elliot Hermansson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ingemar Asserlind made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olof Berggren in the 93rd minute of play. Jan Månsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Ingemar Asserlind tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Vretstorp failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
