Stegeborgs IF's supporters rose to their feet, but Allan Tomasson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lars Edström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ingvar Lindholm couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Stegeborgs IF's Ingvar Lindholm slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Lars Edström. That made the score 1-0 after 30 minutes of play. Björn Gustafsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tor Eriksson, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Ingvar Lindholm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 41 minutes, Bertil Törnqvist mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dalby IF and the Stegeborgs IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Dalby IF's Bertil Törnqvist got a free kick in the 41st minute. After some careless play in the Stegeborgs IF defense, Bertil Törnqvist kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Björn Gustafsson. The Stegeborgs IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Björn Gustafsson should have stopped the shot.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bertil Törnqvist to make the kick off. Lars Edström stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Allan Tomasson's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Bertil Törnqvist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Björn Gustafsson having to interfere. In the 58th minute, Agne Alebeck sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Stegeborgs IF's Björn Gustafsson didn't even have to move. A collision led to Stegeborgs IF getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Pontus Lindström hit a great ball. 66 minutes into the match, Dalby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Ingvar Lindholm came free, but Lars Edström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Dalby IF's Aleksander Holm got a free kick in the 71st minute. Lars Edström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ingvar Lindholm went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Ingvar Lindholm's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lars Edström was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. After 78 played minutes Stegeborgs IF got a freekick which was hit by Torsten Godholm. Agne Alebeck took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 80th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Björn Gustafsson. Stegeborgs IF's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Lars Edström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Allan Tomasson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Richard Hellström hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Dalby IF's zone, Allan Tomasson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lars Edström came out of the goal and Allan Tomasson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dalby IF's goalkeeper Lars Edström, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Tor Eriksson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stegeborgs IF's Björn Gustafsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bertil Törnqvist in the 92nd minute of play. Dalby IF's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
