In the 6th minute, John Aleberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Charlie Martinsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Joakim Bodin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sören Forsberg having to interfere. Elfsborg's Stig-Arne Sandberg got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Brian Helström managed to get in a good position for a shot. AL AHLY's supporters rose to their feet, but Brian Helström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Uno Harman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. AL AHLY's John Aleberg got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Brian Helström, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 23 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Uno Harman was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 27 minutes of play, AL AHLY's Brian Helström made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Uno Harman was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Elfsborg's zone, Karl-Åke Löfskog stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Uno Harman came out of the goal and Karl-Åke Löfskog tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 33rd match minute, Elfsborg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viktor Lindström to maneuver through the defense. Karl-Åke Löfskog was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 34th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Charlie Martinsson made the kick off in the second half. Brian Helström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sören Forsberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charlie Martinsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Uno Harman didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brian Helström went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Uno Harman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Aleberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 72nd minute, John Aleberg reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Uno Harman. The goal made the score 0-3. Sören Forsberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joakim Bodin, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. After a rather tough play, AL AHLY's Johan Jonsson got a free kick in the 80th minute. Joakim Bodin struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Sören Forsberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Elfsborg. AL AHLY's Sören Forsberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viktor Lindström in the 83rd minute of play. John Aleberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Uno Harman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. John Aleberg ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Charlie Martinsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sören Forsberg was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. If John Aleberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to AL AHLY getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Karl-Åke Löfskog hit a great ball. Jens-Ola Dahlberg took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 95th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sören Forsberg. AL AHLY's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The AL AHLY players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
