The referee ignored Smedby's protests and gave Dick Wiman a yellow card for diving instead. In the 15th minute, Dick Wiman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Harald Apelquist struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Rutger Strömberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Älta. When Hugo Karlstedt fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Smedby's protests and gave Hugo Karlstedt a yellow card for diving instead. Rutger Strömberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harald Apelquist, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. If Dick Wiman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Melker Dalgren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Harald Apelquist made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Melker Dalgren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Älta's supporters rose to their feet, but Melker Dalgren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rutger Strömberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stig Almstedt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Oscar Vallin made a huge save. When Harald Apelquist came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Älta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Harald Apelquist couldn't finish the play. Oscar Vallin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stig Almstedt in the 66th minute. If Alvar Nyberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 69th match minute, Älta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christer Wenerdahl to maneuver through the defense.
