Carl Alströmer was extremely unlucky when he, in the 15th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. David Blixt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emil Vacker, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester united's zone, Calle Biörling stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Magnus Gunnarsson came out of the goal and Calle Biörling tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 25 minutes, Jon Andersson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Blixten Lightning and the Manchester united players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 24 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Blixten Lightning! Stig-Ove Vallmark shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 29th minute of the match, Emil Vacker tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but David Blixt saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Benjamin Jansson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Magnus Gunnarsson having to interfere. 40 minutes into the game, Calle Biörling cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Magnus Gunnarsson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Benjamin Jansson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Blixten Lightning's supporters rose to their feet, but Benjamin Jansson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Magnus Gunnarsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Blixten Lightning were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Calle Biörling stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Benjamin Jansson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Blixten Lightning's Benjamin Jansson got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
