Spectators: 7335 (Terracing: 5503, Seating: 1687, VIP seats: 145) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Hans Persson started the match with the kick off. After 2 played minutes Boxholm FF got a freekick which was hit by Bengt-Rune Arenstedt. Hans Persson was extremely unlucky when he, in the 8th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. When Esbjörn Hägglund fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Boxholm FF's protests and gave Esbjörn Hägglund a yellow card for diving instead. In the 9th match minute, Boxholm FF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esbjörn Hägglund to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Boxholm FF getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Folke Smedfeldt hit a great ball. Hans Persson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Kjell Sikström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Boxholm FF's Kjell Sikström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Boxholm FF from getting a goal against them. Kjell Sikström made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Frank Allbom sent off a good shot on target. Frank Allboms short, quick shot in the 22ndth minute got Kjell Sikström to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Emanuel Åhlberg was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 25th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 34th minute of the match Fabian Blomqvist sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kjell Sikström skillfully saved the ball. With a little luck, Boxholm FF's Kjell Sikström got control of the ball when Frank Allbom tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Stig-Ove Svartengren kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Kjell Sikström. That made the score 1-0 in the 47 minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bengt-Rune Arenstedt made a kick off. Boxholm FF's Tim Ahlström got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Boxholm FF booed when Gefle FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patric Jonsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Frank Allbom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Uno Norberg hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. In the 62nd minute, Frank Allbom left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gefle FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Gefle FC's Joseph Andreasson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bengt-Rune Arenstedt in the 66th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Hans Persson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gefle FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hans Persson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kjell Sikström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gefle FC's Hans Persson got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Frank Allbom's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kjell Sikström was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. Hans Persson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kjell Sikström read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. Joseph Andreasson came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Boxholm FF's Bengt-Rune Arenstedt. But to his dismay, Bengt-Rune Arenstedt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Boxholm FF's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
