The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute of the match, Marc Öberg got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jimmy Westerstrand was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 11 minutes into the match, Huddungeby IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Edgar Nyman came free, but Jimmy Westerstrand reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Huddungeby IFK's Jimmy Westerstrand got control of the ball when Marc Öberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. Huddungeby IFK's Kjell Bergren got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jim Hedman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Klementsson having to interfere. After having played for 23 minutes, Marc Öberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mjällby AIF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marc Öberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Linus Bruse managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mjällby AIF's supporters rose to their feet, but Linus Bruse was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jimmy Westerstrand breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 26 minutes into the match, Huddungeby IFK's goalkeeper Jimmy Westerstrand had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marc Öberg. After a defensive mix-up in Huddungeby IFK's zone, Linus Bruse stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jimmy Westerstrand came out of the goal and Linus Bruse tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Per-Oskar Skog hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. If Linus Bruse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Huddungeby IFK's Kjell Bergren in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mjällby AIF's goalie prevented a goal. After having played for 49 minutes, Marc Öberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mjällby AIF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marc Öberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Jan-Åke Hedin made the kick off in the second half. Jan-Åke Hedin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mjällby AIF's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jan-Åke Hedin 59 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Kjell Bergren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Linus Bruse struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Jimmy Westerstrand didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mjällby AIF. In the 76th match minute, Huddungeby IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hubert Ström to maneuver through the defense. Mjällby AIF's Marc Öberg got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 89th minute by Jan-Åke Hedin got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Huddungeby IFK's zone, Marc Öberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jimmy Westerstrand came out of the goal and Marc Öberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
