The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Edwin Apelkvist fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Säve FF's protests and gave Edwin Apelkvist a yellow card for diving instead. Edwin Apelkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. In the 8th minute Stellan Nyström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stig-Arne Gustavsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bertil Rosen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stig-Ove Åkerström in the 16th minute of the match. Stig-Arne Gustavsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stellan Nyström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stig-Ove Åkerström blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bertil Rosen having to make a save. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hasslö's goalkeeper Bertil Rosen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Karl-Åke Fastesson kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Säve FF's Edwin Apelkvist got a free kick in the 29th minute. After 31 played minutes Säve FF got a freekick which was hit by Edwin Apelkvist. With a little luck, Säve FF's Stig-Arne Gustavsson got control of the ball when Joakim Åkesson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hasslö's Joakim Åkesson got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Patrick Hök kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the match, Jens-Ola Dalberg notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Hasslö's Bertil Rosen. Bertil Rosen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hasslö's Bertil Rosen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stig-Ove Åkerström in the 46th minute of play. 0-2 became the score in the 47th minute when Jens-Ola Dalberg elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Hasslö's zone, Karl-Åke Fastesson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bertil Rosen came out of the goal and Karl-Åke Fastesson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by David Igelström during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. David Igelström hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. After 59 played minutes, Säve FF's Tobias Pihlberg shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bertil Rosen came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Säve FF reached it. Stig-Ove Åkerström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Bertil Rosen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jens-Ola Dalberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bertil Rosen having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Hasslö's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Stig-Ove Åkerström fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 76th minute Stellan Nyström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stig-Arne Gustavsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Joakim Åkesson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Niklas Valström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Stig-Arne Gustavsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, Stellan Nyström had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stig-Arne Gustavsson. Säve FF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stellan Nyström was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Jens-Ola Dalberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bertil Rosen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jens-Ola Dalberg ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match clock showed 96 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Joakim Åkesson sped through Säve FF's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Stig-Arne Gustavsson. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
