After 6 played minutes Ljungbyholm FK got a freekick which was hit by Henrik Tomasson. Tord Forsberg struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Gabriel Gudmundsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hammarby IF. After a defensive mix-up in Hammarby IF's zone, Olov Berglund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adam Abelsson came out of the goal and Olov Berglund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Hammarby IF's Michael Bank got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 16th match minute, Hammarby IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Bank to maneuver through the defense. Henrik Tomasson was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 17th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Olov Berglund's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adam Abelsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Olov Berglund could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Adam Abelsson made a huge save. After 22 minutes, Olov Berglund mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ljungbyholm FK and the Hammarby IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Hammarby IF booed when Ljungbyholm FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olov Berglund didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 31 minutes, Martin Kellman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ljungbyholm FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Kellman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Oskar Fredriksson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tord Forsberg struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Gabriel Gudmundsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hammarby IF. Gabriel Gudmundsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oskar Fredriksson in the 41st minute of play. Tord Forsberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gabriel Gudmundsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tord Forsberg ran back to his position shaking his head. Gabriel Gudmundsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tord Forsberg in the 49th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Oskar Fredriksson to strike the kick off in the second half. Adam Abelsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Kellman, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. If Oskar Fredriksson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martin Kellman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adam Abelsson having to make a save. Olov Berglund fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adam Abelsson having to interfere. When Michael Bank came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Hammarby IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Michael Bank couldn't finish the play. After 80 played minutes Hammarby IF got a freekick which was hit by Erik Näfver. If Martin Kellman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adam Abelsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Kellman in the 84th minute of play. Michael Bank's late challenge caught a Ljungbyholm FK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Michael Bank helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ljungbyholm FK booed when Hammarby IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Bank didn't get a good kick on the ball. Martin Kellman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Olov Berglund scored 1-0 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Adam Abelsson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. For all the effort they put into the match, the Hammarby IF players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Ljungbyholm FK.
