Bengt-Arne Gullesson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 6 minutes into the match, Bergvik's Sven-Edvin Tham sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bengt-Arne Gullesson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sven-Edvin Tham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt-Arne Gullesson having to interfere. After 15 minutes, Sture Eliasson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sjölidens BK and the Bergvik players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 15th minute of the game. One of Sjölidens BK:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Bergvik:s goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joacim Browall in the 23rd minute of play forced Sjölidens BK's goalkeeper Bengt-Arne Gullesson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Sven-Edvin Tham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt-Arne Gullesson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hubert Pilgren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kjell Biörnberg in the 30th minute of the match. 35 minutes into the game, Albert Lång was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sjölidens BK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bergvik the free kick. After a rather tough play, Sjölidens BK's Albert Lång got a free kick in the 35th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Sven-Edvin Tham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bergvik's supporters rose to their feet, but Sven-Edvin Tham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bengt-Arne Gullesson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sven-Edvin Tham in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bengt-Arne Gullesson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 46th minute, Joacim Browall left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bergvik fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sven-Edvin Tham to make the kick off. Hubert Pilgren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kjell Biörnberg in the 65th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sven-Edvin Tham in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bengt-Arne Gullesson saved Sjölidens BK from getting behind. Kjell Biörnberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hubert Pilgren. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kjell Biörnberg ran back to his position shaking his head. Joacim Browalls short, quick shot in the 80thth minute got Bengt-Arne Gullesson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Bergvik getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Sven Lindberg hit a great ball. Michael Paulin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hubert Pilgren read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Bergvik's Hubert Pilgren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michael Paulin in the 87th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joacim Browall got free with Bengt-Arne Gullesson in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Sven-Edvin Tham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Sven-Edvin Tham took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Bengt-Arne Gullesson to make any attempt to save it.
