The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Simlångsdalen getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Thomas Sjögren hit a great ball. Malte Kämpe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 16th minute Malte Kämpe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Markus Norberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Malte Kämpe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Svante Hasselqvist in the 25th minute of play forced Simlångsdalen's goalkeeper Stig-Ove Wester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Malte Kämpe to make the kick off. Stig-Ove Wester made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svante Hasselqvist in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Malte Kämpe in the 60th minute of play forced Djurgarden IF's goalkeeper Markus Norberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Åke Berglund fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stig-Ove Wester having to interfere. A collision led to Djurgarden IF getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Folke Jakobsson hit a great ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Djurgarden IF players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
