Vetlanda RK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sixten Haegg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sixten Haegg in the 16th minute of play forced BK Fotsvamp's goalkeeper Jon Kilström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Verner Bengtsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gottfrid Rolfsson having to interfere. The supporters of BK Fotsvamp booed when Vetlanda RK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bengt Hök didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Malte Lundkvist fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vetlanda RK's protests and gave Malte Lundkvist a yellow card for diving instead. Malte Lundkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as BK Fotsvamp's Verner Bengtsson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gottfrid Rolfsson. That made the score 1-0 after 25 minutes of play. If Sixten Haegg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, BK Fotsvamp's Henrik Apelquist got a free kick in the 30th minute. Jon Kilström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alf Hjortsberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. BK Fotsvamp's Sven-Erik Alberg got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Sven-Erik Alberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. BK Fotsvamp's supporters rose to their feet, but Sven-Erik Alberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gottfrid Rolfsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Vetlanda RK fans' excitement grew in the 42nd match minute when Vetlanda RK's Sixten Haegg looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Verner Bengtsson was the one to do the kick off. Sixten Haegg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jon Kilström having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Vetlanda RK's Svante Vallengren got a free kick in the 55th minute. Gottfrid Rolfsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Verner Bengtsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After 75 played minutes Vetlanda RK got a freekick which was hit by Malte Lundkvist. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind BK Fotsvamp's goalkeeper Jon Kilström, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 87 minutes in the game, Sixten Haegg fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Jon Kilström having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in BK Fotsvamp's zone, Alf Hjortsberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jon Kilström came out of the goal and Alf Hjortsberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sixten Haegg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Jon Kilström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vetlanda RK were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
