The audience thought a goal was coming when Claes Bratt got free with André Westerberg in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Claes Bratt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Westerberg having to interfere. 20 minutes into the game, FK Crvena Zvezda's Abel Magnolfi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. André Westerberg made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Folke Odeen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. André Westerberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the match clock showed 81 minutes, the score became 8-0 when Claes Bratt sped through Chelsea FF's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of André Westerberg. The supporters of Chelsea FF booed when FK Crvena Zvezda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andreas Giöck didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Andreas Giöck managed to get in a good position for a shot. FK Crvena Zvezda's supporters rose to their feet, but Andreas Giöck was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. André Westerberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 92 minutes into the game, Abel Magnolfi threw the ball into play from the sideline. Chelsea FF's Roger Sikström quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. André Westerberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Johan Gunnarsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Claes Bratt took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised André Westerberg. André Westerberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FK Crvena Zvezda fully deserved thier win.
