IFK Sponsor's Edward Jönsson suffered a concussion in the 20th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. 20 minutes into the game, Kurt Brovall was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barkarby Runners's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave IFK Sponsor the free kick. A collision led to Barkarby Runners getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Kurt Brovall hit a great ball. If Arne Nyqvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 29th minute, Börje Zachrisson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Per-Olof Ekman came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the IFK Sponsor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Per-Olof Ekman couldn't finish the play. In the 40th minute, Kaj Holmgren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 45 played minutes IFK Sponsor got a freekick which was hit by Max Johnsson.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arne Nyqvist made a kick off. Börje Zachrisson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Jens-Erik Smedfeldt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jens-Erik Smedfeldt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrian Bäck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After taking down the ball on IFK Sponsor's corner Per-Olof Ekman fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jens-Erik Smedfeldt quite easily take care of the ball. Einar Almkvist's late challenge caught a IFK Sponsor's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Einar Almkvist helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of IFK Sponsor booed when Barkarby Runners was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Einar Almkvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jens-Erik Smedfeldt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Börje Zachrisson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jens-Erik Smedfeldt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herbert Forsberg in the 73rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Börje Zachrisson managed to get in a good position for a shot. IFK Sponsor's supporters rose to their feet, but Börje Zachrisson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jens-Erik Smedfeldt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Einar Almkvist got his second yellow card in the match during the 87th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 88th match minute, Barkarby Runners was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Einar Almkvist to maneuver through the defense.
