Maltesholms FF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bengt-Rune Nilsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 15 minutes into the match, Maltesholms FF's goal looked a bit too open when Esbjörn Kvarnström came free, but Carl Norberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maltesholms FF's Carl Norberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Esbjörn Kvarnström in the 17th minute of play. Nils Danielsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt-Åke Låsberg having to interfere. The supporters of Sunderland FC booed when Maltesholms FF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olle Söderquist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bengt-Rune Nilsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carl Norberg read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Carl Norberg came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Sunderland FC's Esbjörn Kvarnström. But to his dismay, Esbjörn Kvarnström quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 27th minute Andréas Örtlund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carl Norberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Magne Gudmundsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Carl Norberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bengt-Rune Nilsson in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carl Norberg saved Maltesholms FF from getting behind. In the 41st match minute, Sunderland FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esbjörn Kvarnström to maneuver through the defense. Bengt-Åke Låsberg was out of position in the 44 minute of play, and Nils Danielsson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nils Danielsson really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. After the first half Sunderland FC were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Peter Tunberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 54 played minutes Sunderland FC got a freekick which was hit by Esbjörn Kvarnström. A collision led to Sunderland FC getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Magne Gudmundsson hit a great ball. In the 60th match minute, Maltesholms FF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kurt Vennerkvist to maneuver through the defense. Andréas Örtlund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Carl Norberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 69 minutes into the match, André Frisk had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bengt-Åke Låsberg. Carl Norberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Esbjörn Kvarnström in the 83rd minute of play. 91 minutes in the game, Esbjörn Kvarnström fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Carl Norberg having to interfere. Carl Norberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bengt-Rune Nilsson in the 93rd minute of the match.
