Spectators: 7490 (Terracing: 5618, Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 149) Fred Fredriksson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Esbjörn Kvarnström, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Fred Fredriksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Esbjörn Kvarnström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fred Fredriksson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bengt-Rune Nilsson in the 18th minute of play. Esbjörn Kvarnström recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Andréas Örtlund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Gösta Wästerberg notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Sunderland FC's Bengt-Åke Låsberg. Bengt-Åke Låsberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fred Fredriksson was a little too slow when Esbjörn Kvarnström got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 39th minute. The score was now 1-1. Fred Fredriksson made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Folke Tillman sent off a good shot on target. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bengt-Rune Nilsson was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Sunderland FC's zone, Gösta Wästerberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bengt-Åke Låsberg came out of the goal and Gösta Wästerberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fred Fredriksson came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Sunderland FC's Bengt-Rune Nilsson. But to his dismay, Bengt-Rune Nilsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. In the 76th minute Folke Tillman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred Fredriksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Bengt-Rune Nilsson came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Sunderland FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bengt-Rune Nilsson couldn't finish the play. In the 81st minute Bengt-Rune Nilsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred Fredriksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 83rd minute Magne Gudmundsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred Fredriksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 96 played minutes Gösta Wästerberg rounded Sunderland FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-2. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Sunderland FC had played much better football throughout.
