The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Norrtälje IF's goalkeeper Otto Benett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Jon Wallin fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Norrtälje IF's protests and gave Jon Wallin a yellow card for diving instead. Jon Wallin hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Otto Benett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stig-Åke Biörkquist, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. William Mellberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kalle Vase in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Norrtälje IF's goalkeeper Otto Benett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Saltsjöbaden IF's Stig-Åke Biörkquist got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Greger Wickander took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Otto Benett to make any attempt to save it. If Greger Wickander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jon Wallin in the 28th minute of play forced Saltsjöbaden IF's goalkeeper William Mellberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute, Saltsjöbaden IF's Greger Wickander dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Greger Wickander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Otto Benett having to interfere. If Edward Thidén had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Greger Wickander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stig-Åke Biörkquist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Villiam Söderkvist's late challenge caught a Saltsjöbaden IF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Villiam Söderkvist helped the player get up and apologised. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stefan Smed made a kick off. Stig-Åke Biörkquist struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Otto Benett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Saltsjöbaden IF. After some careless play in the Norrtälje IF defense, Stig-Åke Biörkquist kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Otto Benett. The Norrtälje IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Otto Benett should have stopped the shot. If Stig-Åke Biörkquist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stig-Åke Biörkquist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Otto Benett having to interfere. If Edward Thidén had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Otto Benett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Greger Wickander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. William Mellberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kalle Vase, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Otto Benett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Greger Wickander in the 89th minute of the match. Sune Levander might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Otto Benett. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sune Levander ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Norrtälje IF getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Kalle Vase hit a great ball. There was no doubt that Saltsjöbaden IF were the better team. Saltsjöbaden IF's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
