Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ashington FC's Timmy Wennerquist started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 15 minutes, Ulf Wiman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sälen and the Ashington FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ashington FC booed when Sälen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulf Wiman didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kennet Hellström during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 16 played minutes Ashington FC got a freekick which was hit by Kennet Hellström. Sälen's Robert Albom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timmy Wennerquist in the 19th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Timmy Wennerquist in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Robert Albom prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Sälen's Ulf Wiman got a free kick in the 23rd minute. When Rutger Ahlroht fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ashington FC's protests and gave Rutger Ahlroht a yellow card for diving instead. After 33 played minutes Ashington FC got a freekick which was hit by Rutger Ahlroht. Mikael Göransson made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Robert Bohlin sent off a good shot on target. After 36 played minutes Sälen got a freekick which was hit by Ulf Wiman. In the 46th minute, Ashington FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Robert Bohlin fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 47th minute, Rutger Ahlroht hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wiktor Ström was extremely unlucky when he, in the 48th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Olof Lund stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ashington FC's Mikael Göransson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Bergkvist in the 56th minute of play. When Kennet Hellström was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 57 minutes had been played. After 57 played minutes Ashington FC got a freekick which was hit by Kennet Hellström. In the 61st minute, Hannes Juhlin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the match, Olof Lund had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mikael Göransson. Ashington FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Olof Lund was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Mikael Göransson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olof Lund in the 69th minute of play. 72 minutes into the match, Sälen's goal looked a bit too open when Timmy Wennerquist came free, but Robert Albom reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sälen's zone, Timmy Wennerquist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robert Albom came out of the goal and Timmy Wennerquist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Sälen getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Leif Holmberg hit a great ball. Ashington FC's Timmy Wennerquist got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Christian Bergkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
