The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gustav Sjöström kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Sven-Oskar Njurenius took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 7th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jörn Jernberg. FC Godis's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Roger Bergfelt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Torsten Melberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 12th match minute, Smögenasd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andy Ekegren to maneuver through the defense. When Smögenasd's Jörn Böcklund in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Godis's goalie prevented a goal. Jörn Böcklund struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Jörn Jernberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Smögenasd. Jörn Jernberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jörn Böcklund's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Roger Bergfelt was extremely unlucky when he, in the 31st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of Smögenasd booed when FC Godis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roger Bergfelt didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute, Sven-Ove Britz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Smögenasd's Torsten Melberg got control of the ball when Roger Bergfelt tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rune Isaksson in the 53rd minute of play forced Smögenasd's goalkeeper Torsten Melberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Smögenasd's Torsten Melberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roger Bergfelt in the 55th minute of play. 56 minutes into the game, Birger Hermansson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Smögenasd's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Godis the free kick. FC Godis's Roger Bergfelt got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Roger Bergfelt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 65 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Smögenasd! In the 68th minute there was a penalty for FC Godis. Krister Berggren stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Torsten Melberg. 1-0. Torsten Melberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rune Isaksson, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Jörn Böcklund kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 79thth minute. Though ot was a great shot FC Godis's keeper Jörn Jernberg was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Jörn Jernberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jörn Böcklund in the 89th minute. Jörn Jernberg was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Boris Biörling. Jörn Böcklund received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jörn Jernberg came out and tried to block the shot, but Jörn Böcklund slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 92nd minute. Smögenasd were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
