But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Pires couldn't finish the play. 5 minutes into the game, Joakim Lustig was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bumbibjörnarna FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Blåränderna the free kick. After a rather tough play, Bumbibjörnarna FC's Joakim Lustig got a free kick in the 5th minute. If Robert Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 11th minute, Robert Pires got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 14 minutes, Robert Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blåränderna's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robert Pires was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 17 played minutes Blåränderna got a freekick which was hit by Maximiliano Vargas. 27 minutes into the game, Robert Pires was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Blåränderna's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bumbibjörnarna FC the free kick. Robert Pires hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kjell Askelöf during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After having played for 42 minutes, Robert Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blåränderna's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robert Pires was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 47thth minute of the game Robert Pires who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bumbibjörnarna FC's Stig-Åke Fanström was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kevin Svensson to make the kick off. Nils Strömberg made in the 52nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Esbjörn Benett immediately put the ball in play. Robert Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stig-Åke Fanström having to interfere. Stig-Åke Fanström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Pires in the 55th minute of play. 56 minutes into the game, Robert Pires cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Stig-Åke Fanström was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gert Björklund hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Blåränderna's Alfred Tingelholm proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Blåränderna from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Bumbibjörnarna FC's zone, Robert Pires stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stig-Åke Fanström came out of the goal and Robert Pires tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nils Strömberg made in the 91st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Blåränderna's Tommy Heggert. Stig-Åke Fanström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tor Edberg in the 93rd minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Blåränderna fans cheered their team off the field, for while Bumbibjörnarna FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
