Jonatan Majman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tony Johnsson in the 6th minute of the match. In the 7th minute, Kjell Lundgren had to leave the field with a concussion. Jörn Haeger charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jörn Haeger the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 7th minute, Jörn Haeger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 10th minute, Tony Johnsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonatan Majman was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 16th minute Jörn Haeger collided with an opponent which caused him a fractured collar bone. After a rather tough play, Göteborg FC's Robert Lagerberg got a free kick in the 21st minute. Alf Björklund was a little too slow when Robert Lagerberg got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 23rd minute. The score was now 1-1. Gröna Stjärnan's defense didn't have a chance, in the 27th minute, when Kurt Dalman scored to the left of an out of position Alf Björklund, making the score, 2-1. Jonatan Majman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Johnsson in the 31st minute of play. Calle Asklund hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. After having played for 35 minutes, Joakim Rolandsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Göteborg FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joakim Rolandsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Göteborg FC booed when Gröna Stjärnan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvin Jonsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joakim Rolandsson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 43rdth minute, Alf Björklund skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Joakim Rolandsson made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Gröna Stjärnan's goal looked a bit too open when Joakim Rolandsson came free, but Alf Björklund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonatan Majman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Johnsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. The supporters of Gröna Stjärnan booed when Göteborg FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bengt Granström didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Robert Lagerberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 72 minutes of play, Göteborg FC's Robert Lagerberg made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alf Björklund was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jonny Zachrisson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alf Björklund read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Gröna Stjärnan's Morgan Malmström got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alf Björklund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Lagerberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Joakim Rolandsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Göteborg FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Joakim Rolandsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alf Björklund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Göteborg FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Gröna Stjärnan for a fine match.
