Östen Björkqvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charlie Östlund in the 26th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Walter Östensson managed to get in a good position for a shot. IFK Göteborg's supporters rose to their feet, but Walter Östensson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mårten Backman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. IFK Göteborg were furious when Gert Petersson was red carded, 34 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee gave Milly FC a penalty, 36 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Markus Arenberg, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of IFK Göteborg's Östen Björkqvist. 2-2. Walter Östensson charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Walter Östensson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Milly FC booed when IFK Göteborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walter Östensson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olov Jansson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After a defensive mix-up in IFK Göteborg's zone, Olov Jansson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Östen Björkqvist came out of the goal and Olov Jansson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Charlie Östlunds short, quick shot in the 61stth minute got Östen Björkqvist to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 65 minutes into the game, Lennart Jernberg recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Östen Björkqvist. Lennart Jernberg showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. In the 69th minute, Milly FC's Olov Jansson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Östen Björkqvist. Östen Björkqvist yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-4. After having played for 79 minutes, Svante Bollström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. IFK Göteborg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Svante Bollström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 83rdth minute of the game Olov Jansson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but IFK Göteborg's Östen Björkqvist was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Olov Jansson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Östen Björkqvist came out and tried to block the shot, but Olov Jansson slotted it home off the left post making it 2-5 in the 88th minute. 93 minutes into the match, IFK Göteborg's goal looked a bit too open when Olov Jansson came free, but Östen Björkqvist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
