In the 9th minute of the match Valdemar Uter sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ludvig Strand skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of DEF Ye booed when Katrineholm IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans Svanér didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 12 minutes, Håkan Springfält managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Katrineholm IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Håkan Springfält was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 17 minutes into the match, DEF Ye's goal looked a bit too open when Dan Åström came free, but Anders Rolandsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute, Håkan Springfält made a precise shot to the right of Anders Rolandsson. DEF Ye's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. The attack was good, but when Håkan Springfält in the 25th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Hans Svanér charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hans Svanér the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Esbjörn Ekström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patrick Åkerman scored 2-1 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ludvig Strand, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Anders Rolandsson made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Håkan Springfält sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the DEF Ye defense, Håkan Springfält kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anders Rolandsson. The DEF Ye fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anders Rolandsson should have stopped the shot. Håkan Springfält fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anders Rolandsson having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dan Åström was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in DEF Ye's zone, Dan Åström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anders Rolandsson came out of the goal and Dan Åström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anders Rolandsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Håkan Springfält's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. Håkan Springfält might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Anders Rolandsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Håkan Springfält ran back to his position shaking his head. After 56 played minutes Katrineholm IF got a freekick which was hit by Rune Skager. Håkan Springfält fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anders Rolandsson having to interfere. When Rune Skager fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Katrineholm IF's protests and gave Rune Skager a yellow card for diving instead. The goalkeeper, Ludvig Strand, was totally fooled by DEF Ye's Valdemar Uter, who 67 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Håkan Springfält sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Anders Rolandsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dan Åström went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score. Dan Åström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anders Rolandsson having to interfere. After 89 minutes of play, Katrineholm IF's Dan Åström made it 6-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Anders Rolandsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some careless play in the DEF Ye defense, Dan Åström kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anders Rolandsson. The DEF Ye fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anders Rolandsson should have stopped the shot. Katrineholm IF's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
