The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes Norrlands Guld got a freekick which was hit by Reine Engström. Esbjörn Ekström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind DEF Ye's goalkeeper Anders Rolandsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, DEF Ye's Vincent Skark got a free kick in the 11th minute. The supporters of Norrlands Guld booed when DEF Ye was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vincent Skark didn't get a good kick on the ball. DEF Ye's Esbjörn Ekström got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Karl-Ove Wiklund was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Patrick Åkerman showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 42 minute of play. DEF Ye's Anders Rolandsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roger Olsman in the 49th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Anders Rolandsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rune Stenström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Åke Barck hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. When Jan-Olof Askberg fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DEF Ye's protests and gave Jan-Olof Askberg a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to DEF Ye getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Jan-Olof Askberg hit a great ball. With a little luck, DEF Ye's Anders Rolandsson got control of the ball when Roger Olsman tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 67th minute Esbjörn Ekström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Ove Wiklund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Karl-Ove Wiklund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patrick Åkerman in the 68th minute of play. The supporters of Norrlands Guld booed when DEF Ye was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Vennerström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Patrick Åkerman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Karl-Ove Wiklund read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, Patrick Åkerman notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Norrlands Guld's Karl-Ove Wiklund. Karl-Ove Wiklund was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rune Stenström in the 86th minute of play forced DEF Ye's goalkeeper Anders Rolandsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 91 minutes into the match, DEF Ye's goalkeeper Anders Rolandsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roger Olsman. DEF Ye's Anders Rolandsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save DEF Ye from getting a goal against them. A nice corner shot did that Bo Nordlund got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Anders Rolandsson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. DEF Ye's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
