In the 9th match minute, IFK EMOU was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven Lenberg to maneuver through the defense. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernt Kolberg couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in IFK EMOU's zone, Vilgot Alfors stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niclas Elg came out of the goal and Vilgot Alfors tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind IFK EMOU's goalkeeper Niclas Elg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nils Back's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jens-Åke Wennerqvist read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Vilgot Alfors made the kick off in the second half. IFK EMOU's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
