An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Grubb in the 44th minute of play forced Grabbens Grabbar FC's goalkeeper Sune Pettersson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Holmsund's goalkeeper Rutger Bennet, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Per-Åke Bergendahl made a kick off. Malcolm Ödman kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Sune Pettersson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Stellan Strandberg went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 60 minutes, Jonathan Grubb managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Holmsund's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonathan Grubb was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Per-Åke Bergendahl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Grubb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sune Pettersson having to interfere. Stellan Strandberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Stellan Strandberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 74 minutes into the match, Holmsund's Jonathan Grubb sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sune Pettersson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Holmsund's Stig Magnusson got a free kick in the 75th minute. After 77 played minutes, Grabbens Grabbar FC's Gösta Dahlberg shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rutger Bennet came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Grabbens Grabbar FC reached it. The supporters of Grabbens Grabbar FC booed when Holmsund was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nils-Åke Ivarsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute Fred Soned shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rutger Bennet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
