Höljes IFK's Valentin Wallin got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Army Ants's Roy Grubb got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alex Stolpe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolf Bäck having to interfere. Tommy Dahlquist's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Staffan Valrot read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Valentin Wallin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Höljes IFK's Staffan Valrot got control of the ball when Tommy Dahlquist tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 32nd minute Alex Stolpe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolf Bäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute, Alex Stolpe made a precise shot to the right of Rolf Bäck. Army Ants's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. The audience was convinced that Alex Stolpe's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rolf Bäck was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. In the 43rd minute of the match Claes Hagström sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rolf Bäck skillfully saved the ball. Höljes IFK's Valentin Wallin got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alex Stolpe to strike the kick off in the second half. Sören Karlsson hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Army Ants defense, Valentin Wallin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rolf Bäck. The Army Ants fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rolf Bäck should have stopped the shot. When Höljes IFK's Alex Stolpe in the 56th minute got a chance for a shot 56th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Army Ants's goalie prevented a goal. Alex Stolpe might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rolf Bäck. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alex Stolpe ran back to his position shaking his head. If Tommy Dahlquist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Peter Eckegren during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Höljes IFK's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
