Vadstena's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andreas Bagge was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 24th minute Anders Biörkman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Melker Alströmmer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonardo Rolfsson charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leonardo Rolfsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Leonardo Rolfsson hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Mellerud IK's zone, Anders Biörkman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Melker Alströmmer came out of the goal and Anders Biörkman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Melker Alströmmer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Olle Dahlbom's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Melker Alströmmer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anders Biörkman in the 34th minute of the match. Melker Alströmmer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olle Dahlbom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olle Dahlbom scored 1-2 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Melker Alströmmer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Vadstena defense, Andreas Bagge kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emiliano Martínez. The Vadstena fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emiliano Martínez should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Olle Dahlbom stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
