Melker Alströmmer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Claes Henriksson went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Mellerud IK defense, Christer Johansson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Melker Alströmmer. The Mellerud IK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Melker Alströmmer should have stopped the shot. After 24 played minutes Mellerud IK got a freekick which was hit by André Karlberg. Melker Alströmmer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alvar Bäcklin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Christer Johansson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Melker Alströmmer was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Dag Öberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl-Erik Västlund having to interfere. When the match clock showed 40 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Christer Johansson sped through Mellerud IK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Melker Alströmmer. Christer Johansson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Grytöl were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a rather tough play, Mellerud IK's Holger Gustafsson got a free kick in the 50th minute. In the 51st minute, Peter Västberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 53rd minute, Grytöl's Christer Johansson dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. Peter Västberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Melker Alströmmer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 58 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Christer Johansson sped through Mellerud IK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Melker Alströmmer. Mellerud IK's Melker Alströmmer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Mellerud IK from getting a goal against them. Melker Alströmmer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Christer Johansson's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. Melker Alströmmer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christer Johansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th minute, Andreas Bagge hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Christer Johansson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Melker Alströmmer. That made the score 0-7 in the 79 minute of play.
