The crowd rose to their feet as Hammarby Sjöstad IF's Bernt Bergqvist slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dida Medeiros. That made the score 1-0 after 3 minutes of play. When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Ragnar Söderström took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Dida Medeiros to make any attempt to save it. 14 minutes in the game, Bernt Bergqvist fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Dida Medeiros having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Hammarby Sjöstad IF's Dida Medeiros threw himself towards the right post 16 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bernt Bergqvist, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Hammarby Sjöstad IF's Gordon Banks played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis Löv in the 19th minute of play. In the 26th minute Bernt Bergqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 27 minutes, Per Biörling mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the G-Torp FF and the Hammarby Sjöstad IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, G-Torp FF's Per Biörling got a free kick in the 27th minute. Karl-Åke Vibjörnsson made in the 28th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Hammarby Sjöstad IF's Bernt Bergqvist. Hammarby Sjöstad IF's Bernt Bergqvist got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 34 played minutes G-Torp FF got a freekick which was hit by Rudolf Jönsson. Marcus Hafström charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcus Hafström the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Hammarby Sjöstad IF getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Marcus Hafström hit a great ball. After 39 minutes G-Torp FF's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Stefan Broman who took care of the corner kick. Karl-Åke Vibjörnsson's late challenge caught a Hammarby Sjöstad IF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Karl-Åke Vibjörnsson helped the player get up and apologised. After 43 played minutes G-Torp FF got a freekick which was hit by Karl-Åke Vibjörnsson. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Bernt Bergqvist made the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, G-Torp FF's goal looked a bit too open when Bernt Bergqvist came free, but Dida Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 60 minutes into the game, Jimmie Lind was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hammarby Sjöstad IF's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave G-Torp FF the free kick. In the 68th minute Stefan Broman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 69th minute, Bernt Bergqvist left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hammarby Sjöstad IF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Dida Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stefan Broman, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. If Bernt Bergqvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 90 minutes in the game Rudolf Jönsson did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Kaj Kruse. Dida Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernt Bergqvist in the 94th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernt Bergqvist in the 97th minute of play forced G-Torp FF's goalkeeper Dida Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 97th minute, Bernt Bergqvist left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hammarby Sjöstad IF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. When the referee ended the match the Hammarby Sjöstad IF players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
