Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stefan Broman, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 14th minute of the match, Stefan Broman tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a defensive mix-up in Djurgården United's zone, Bernt Bergqvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt came out of the goal and Bernt Bergqvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gordon Banks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernst Burman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bernt Bergqvist's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stefan Broman got free with Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Djurgården United's Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernt Bergqvist in the 34th minute of play. Stefan Broman in the 37thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 58th minute of the match Ragnar Söderström sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt skillfully saved the ball. Karl-Åke Qvalfeldt was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
