VfL Wolfsburg's Olle Tunander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marc Lundgren in the 7th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Henrik Gadd put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Olle Tunander. Ludomir Sala took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gösta Granberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the game, Malte Blomquist was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mellanström's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave VfL Wolfsburg the free kick. After 15 played minutes Mellanström got a freekick which was hit by Malte Blomquist. Ludomir Sala showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gösta Granberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Patrick Albom got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 1-1. 33 minutes into the match. 39 minutes into the match, Mellanström's goal looked a bit too open when Gösta Granberg came free, but Ludomir Sala reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 42 minutes of play, VfL Wolfsburg's Marciano Egun made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ludomir Sala was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Hannes Ström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hannes Ström made a kick off. Ludomir Sala showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gösta Granberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hannes Ström got free with Ludomir Sala in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 57th minute of the match Per-Olof Isaksson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Olle Tunander skillfully saved the ball. VfL Wolfsburg's attentive Yin Bing Ming managed to snatch the ball when Per-Olof Isaksson made a throw-in in the 62nd minute of the game. Hannes Ström took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ludomir Sala. Ludomir Sala dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. After 65 played minutes VfL Wolfsburg got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Valderrama. After having played for 66 minutes, Henrik Gadd managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mellanström's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henrik Gadd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hannes Ström who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 71stth minute tested the skills of Ludomir Sala when he managed to save the team from getting behind. VfL Wolfsburg's Olle Tunander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marc Lundgren in the 73rd minute of play. Olle Tunander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henrik Gadd in the 74th minute of play. 81 minutes into the game, Kenny Liljeström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. VfL Wolfsburg's Yin Bing Ming quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After a defensive mix-up in Mellanström's zone, Patrick Albom stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ludomir Sala came out of the goal and Patrick Albom tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
