The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Göran Lindberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hjalmar Västerstrand in the 3rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilhelm Ek in the 5th minute of play forced F.C Lundbyborg's goalkeeper Jimmy Olsmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 7th minute Jonas Öberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimmy Olsmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jimmy Olsmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Uno Bjurström in the 9th minute of the match. The supporters of Fagersta booed when F.C Lundbyborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erland Biörling didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Wilhelm Ek's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jimmy Olsmann was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Fagersta's Göran Lindberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Fagersta from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the F.C Lundbyborg defense, Jonas Öberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jimmy Olsmann. The F.C Lundbyborg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jimmy Olsmann should have stopped the shot. Jimmy Olsmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Uno Bjurström in the 23rd minute of play. After 24 minutes F.C Lundbyborg's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Conny Uggla who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Conny Uggla almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but F.C Lundbyborg's Jimmy Olsmann did a great save. F.C Lundbyborg's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Erland Biörling in the 27th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Krister Kielberg heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. F.C Lundbyborg's Jimmy Olsmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonas Öberg in the 37th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Wilhelm Ek got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Fagersta booed when F.C Lundbyborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karl-Åke Holmstedt didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute Jonas Öberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimmy Olsmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jimmy Olsmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conny Uggla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilhelm Ek made a kick off. Jimmy Olsmann made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Wilhelm Ek sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Uno Bjurström put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Jimmy Olsmann. In the 59th minute, Hjalmar Västerstrand ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Göran Lindberg was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aðalráður Þórðarson got free with Jimmy Olsmann in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wilhelm Ek received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Jimmy Olsmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th match minute, F.C Lundbyborg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Göran Ekberg to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th play minute Aðalráður Þórðarson came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Jimmy Olsmann. 1-3. With his leg Jimmy Olsmann managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Fagersta's Aðalráður Þórðarson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jimmy Olsmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonas Öberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Erland Biörling fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C Lundbyborg's protests and gave Erland Biörling a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to F.C Lundbyborg getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Erland Biörling hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Jonas Öberg took a quick shot and it went in 1-5 without a chance for Jimmy Olsmann to make any attempt to save it. 94 minutes into the match, Jonas Öberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jimmy Olsmann. F.C Lundbyborg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jonas Öberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-6.
