The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Casper Kleen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Esbjörn Sefastsson in the 4th minute of play. In the 5th minute Pål Beck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Kleen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jan Ekenberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Roger Pilgren having to make a save. 15 minutes into the game, Joar Dahlquist threw the ball into play from the sideline. Mean Machine's Jonathan Sandström quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Jan Ekenberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Roger Pilgren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan Ekenberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. After a rather tough play, Mean Machine's Torsten Berglund got a free kick in the 21st minute. After some careless play in the FC Higher defense, Jan Ekenberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Roger Pilgren. The FC Higher fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roger Pilgren should have stopped the shot. In the 28th match minute, Mean Machine was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stig-Arne Wallin to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to FC Higher getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Bertil Askstedt hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute of the match Henry Alebäck sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roger Pilgren skillfully saved the ball. In the 40th minute Jan Ekenberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Pilgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henry Alebäck took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roger Pilgren. Roger Pilgren dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After 44 minutes, Jan Ekenberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mean Machine and the FC Higher players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Mean Machine getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Jan Ekenberg hit a great ball. After the first half Mean Machine were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jan Ekenberg to strike the kick off in the second half. Jan Ekenberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gösta Kämpe kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Esbjörn Sefastsson in the 55th minute of play forced Mean Machine's goalkeeper Casper Kleen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roger Pilgren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henry Alebäck in the 63rd minute of the match.
