After a defensive mix-up in MAFFIAN's zone, Fredrik Sandberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kjell-Arne Hultman came out of the goal and Fredrik Sandberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 13th minute Sylvester Stallone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mats Lindgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Schlurp IF booed when MAFFIAN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonatan Högström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Johan Hagström's late challenge caught a MAFFIAN's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Johan Hagström helped the player get up and apologised. After 17 played minutes Schlurp IF got a freekick which was hit by Johan Hagström. A hard shot by Arnold Schwarzenegger from long distance, 17 minutes into the match, got Mats Lindgren's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Kjell-Arne Hultman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dick Smefeldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. When Jean-Claude Van Damme came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the MAFFIAN fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean-Claude Van Damme couldn't finish the play. 24 minutes into the match, MAFFIAN's goal looked a bit too open when Freddie Sandström came free, but Kjell-Arne Hultman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kjell-Arne Hultman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Freddie Sandström in the 25th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Schlurp IF's zone, Jean-Claude Van Damme stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 29th minute of play forced Schlurp IF's goalkeeper Mats Lindgren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 31st minute, Jonatan Högström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Johan Hagström kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Freddie Sandström in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kjell-Arne Hultman saved MAFFIAN from getting behind. In the 41st minute of the match Schlurp IF got a corner. MAFFIAN's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dick Smefeldt ran over to the corner to take the kick. Schlurp IF's Dick Smefeldt was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Kjell-Arne Hultman in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The MAFFIAN players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Schlurp IF were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Jean-Claude Van Damme made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Wiktor Blanck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jean-Claude Van Damme blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mats Lindgren having to make a save. After having played for 56 minutes, Johan Hagström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Schlurp IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Johan Hagström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Johan Hagström's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kjell-Arne Hultman was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. MAFFIAN's Kjell-Arne Hultman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Freddie Sandström in the 61st minute of play. Jean-Claude Van Damme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Freddie Sandström who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Kjell-Arne Hultman when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
