Epeios Sardelis charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Epeios Sardelis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 2 played minutes Skogsbackens IK got a freekick which was hit by Epeios Sardelis. Mark Granström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ralf Rask in the 8th minute. In the 12th minute, Tommy Bogren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Åke Stål stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Garcés's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. 16 minutes into the game, Bengt Blixt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Mark Granström was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hasan Hüseyin Orak got free with Mark Granström in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hasan Hüseyin Orak made a great header on Hartlepool's corner, it was just that Skogsbackens IK's Mark Granström managed to reach the ball for a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Hartlepool's Vilhelm Västerstrand slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mark Granström. That made the score 3-0 after 22 minutes of play. Mark Granström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ralf Johnsson in the 30th minute. In the 34th minute, Bengt Blixt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mark Granström was a little too slow when Bengt Blixt got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 35th minute. The score was now 5-0. The supporters of Skogsbackens IK booed when Hartlepool was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bosse Blond didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mark Granström was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-0 at half-time.

But to his dismay, Ralf Rask quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Mark Granström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hasan Hüseyin Orak, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Mark Granström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bengt Blixt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carl Qvarnström scored 8-0 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mark Granström, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 84th minute, Kurt Mårtensson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89th minute Ralf Rask shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Granström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ralf Rask sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mark Granström came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Hartlepool's Carl Qvarnström. But to his dismay, Carl Qvarnström quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 9-0. Hasan Hüseyin Orak hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Hartlepool fully deserved thier win.
