When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Väino Kapsas sped through Södra Mellby IF's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sven Wickander. In the 11th minute Stig Lundberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven Wickander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sven Wickander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olov Gulliksson, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. The supporters of Stampen IF booed when Södra Mellby IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joar Hansson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stampen IF's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
