FC St. Pauli's Örjan Dahlquist quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Otto Hjälm, made in the 4th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ola Rydberg in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Buach Byrne prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 9 played minutes FC St. Pauli got a freekick which was hit by Agne Eriksson. 10 minutes into the match, Ola Rydberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Buach Byrne. FC St. Pauli's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ola Rydberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The supporters of FC St. Pauli booed when Arye Suryoye was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Börje Thorsberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Timmy Linberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 22nd minute, Agne Eriksson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Otto Hjälm fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arye Suryoye's protests and gave Otto Hjälm a yellow card for diving instead. Otto Hjälm hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Kenneth Käcker made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emil Enegren in the 25th minute of play. Kenneth Käcker showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Timmy Linberg in the 29th minute of the match. The throw-in from Otto Hjälm in the 31st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC St. Pauli's Örjan Dahlquist. Buach Byrne made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Ola Rydberg sent off a good shot on target. FC St. Pauli's defense didn't have a chance, in the 33rd minute, when Ola Rydberg scored to the left of an out of position Buach Byrne, making the score, 2-0. After 36 played minutes Arye Suryoye got a freekick which was hit by Börje Thorsberg. FC St. Pauli's Timmy Linberg got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emil Enegren in the 41st minute of play forced Arye Suryoye's goalkeeper Kenneth Käcker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ola Rydberg was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of FC St. Pauli booed when Arye Suryoye was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Börje Thorsberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59thth minute of the game Ola Rydberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC St. Pauli's Buach Byrne was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Arye Suryoye's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Norberto Loureiro in the 60th minute. Arye Suryoye's Norberto Loureiro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Buach Byrne in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 64th minute, Ola Rydberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Arye Suryoye's Ola Rydberg in the 66th minute got a chance for a shot 66th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC St. Pauli's goalie prevented a goal. Buach Byrne didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ola Rydberg went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Ola Rydberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the FC St. Pauli defense, Ola Rydberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Buach Byrne. The FC St. Pauli fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Buach Byrne should have stopped the shot. In the 78th minute Ola Rydberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Buach Byrne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. During the 80th minute of the match Börje Thorsberg completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Börje Thorsberg a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Börje Thorsberg hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Arye Suryoye's Valdemar Beckeman was substituted for Ola Rydberg. After some careless play in the Arye Suryoye defense, Timmy Linberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kenneth Käcker. The Arye Suryoye fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kenneth Käcker should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Arye Suryoye's Kenneth Ahlerot got a free kick in the 86th minute. After 88 minutes, Norberto Loureiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Arye Suryoye and the FC St. Pauli players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Arye Suryoye getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Norberto Loureiro hit a great ball. The supporters of FC St. Pauli booed when Arye Suryoye was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdemar Beckeman didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Arye Suryoye fans cheered their team off the field, for while FC St. Pauli had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
