The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Staffan Eckegren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anders Holmgren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the match, G A I S's goal looked a bit too open when Carl Caniggia came free, but Staffan Eckegren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Band Of Brothers were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after G A I S's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Patrik Billvall took the corner. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Bobby Bastard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Band Of Brothers's supporters rose to their feet, but Bobby Bastard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Staffan Eckegren breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arne Stensson hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Anders Holmgren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Staffan Eckegren having to interfere. Staffan Eckegren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carl Caniggia in the 26th minute of the match. Hami Tuna made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arne Stensson in the 32nd minute. G A I S's Staffan Eckegren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anders Holmgren in the 37th minute of play. Arne Stensson's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Hami Tuna firmly grabbed it by the left post. Vilgot Falk charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vilgot Falk the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee gave G A I S a penalty, 43 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cléber Marinho, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Band Of Brothers's Hami Tuna. 1-0. Hami Tuna stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Norman Mabalane's shot from short distance in the 50th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Norman Mabalane made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arne Stensson in the 55th minute of play forced Band Of Brothers's goalkeeper Hami Tuna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
