Dariusz Kopacz charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dariusz Kopacz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 5 played minutes Sparta got a freekick which was hit by Dariusz Kopacz. Lech Mroczynski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wojciech Galus read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. Wasyl Bialakowski hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Wojciech Galus acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 16th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jacek Terasek. When SANEL Chorzów's Lech Mroczynski in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sparta's goalie prevented a goal. When the match clock showed 21 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Mateusz Pilitowski sped through SANEL Chorzów's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Zenon Niewiadomski. Bogumil Gorzkiewicz charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 30th minute, Wit Pankowski left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SANEL Chorzów fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tanek Sobczak during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kamil Glik kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. If Lech Mroczynski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Szczepan Mazierski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Zenon Niewiadomski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lech Mroczynski made a kick off. Sparta's Wojciech Galus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wit Pankowski in the 59th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Sparta's zone, Wit Pankowski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wojciech Galus came out of the goal and Wit Pankowski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lech Mroczynski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wojciech Galus having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Dariusz Kopacz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of SANEL Chorzów booed when Sparta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Szczepan Mazierski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lech Mroczynski might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wojciech Galus. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lech Mroczynski ran back to his position shaking his head. 76 minutes into the match, SANEL Chorzów's Lech Mroczynski sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wojciech Galus narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lech Mroczynski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wit Pankowski in the 79th minute of play forced Sparta's goalkeeper Wojciech Galus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 80 minutes, Lech Mroczynski made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Sparta's Wojciech Galus tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Sparta's Tanek Sobczak got a free kick in the 84th minute. Wojciech Galus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wit Pankowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SANEL Chorzów's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jacek Terasek in the 86th minute. Wawrzyniec Klewinski was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. SANEL Chorzów's Lech Mroczynski got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Wit Pankowski managed to get in a good position for a shot. SANEL Chorzów's supporters rose to their feet, but Wit Pankowski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wojciech Galus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. SANEL Chorzów were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Sparta for a fine match.
