Stal Bydgoszcz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Boleslaw Winograd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ruch's zone, Czeslaw Merski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Radomir Brzonkala came out of the goal and Czeslaw Merski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 20thth minute of the game Cezary Kaczeniak who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stal Bydgoszcz's Daniel Mentis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Boleslaw Winograd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Radomir Brzonkala tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Czeslaw Merskis short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Radomir Brzonkala to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 27th match minute, Ruch was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mateusz Gdaniec to maneuver through the defense. Cezary Kaczeniak struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Daniel Mentis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ruch. Stal Bydgoszcz's Daniel Mentis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cezary Kaczeniak in the 36th minute of play. Daniel Mentis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wieslaw Blicharz, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After having played for 43 minutes, Wieslaw Blicharz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ruch's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wieslaw Blicharz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Mentis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cezary Kaczeniak in the 45th minute of the match. Radomir Brzonkala made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Czeslaw Merski sent off a good shot on target. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Cezary Kaczeniak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Mentis having to interfere. Stal Bydgoszcz's Daniel Mentis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Stal Bydgoszcz from getting a goal against them. If Czeslaw Merski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Boleslaw Winograd might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Radomir Brzonkala. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Boleslaw Winograd ran back to his position shaking his head. Daniel Mentis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wieslaw Blicharz in the 74th minute. The tension between the Ruch and the Stal Bydgoszcz players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Ruch getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Hieronim Kosowski hit a great ball. In the 87th minute Czeslaw Merski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Radomir Brzonkala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wieslaw Blicharz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Daniel Mentis made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boleslaw Winograd in the 94th minute of play forced Ruch's goalkeeper Radomir Brzonkala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cezary Kaczeniak struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Daniel Mentis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ruch. Stal Bydgoszcz's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
