Spectators: 7131 (Terracing: 5458, Seating: 1673, VIP seats: 0) FC Gdynia's Zbigniew Olejasz started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Wladyslaw Pacholewski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomasz Gibowski in the 3rd minute of the match. Zbigniew Olejasz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zula Sanocki having to interfere. After 20 minutes of play, FC Gdynia's Radomil Golaszewski made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zula Sanocki was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tomasz Gibowski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Wladyslaw Pacholewski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomasz Gibowski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wladyslaw Pacholewski having to interfere. After some careless play in the Polonia Bydgoszcz defense, Radomil Golaszewski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zula Sanocki. The Polonia Bydgoszcz fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zula Sanocki should have stopped the shot. After 43 played minutes, FC Gdynia's Radomil Rudy shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zula Sanocki came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Gdynia reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zbigniew Olejasz in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zula Sanocki saved Polonia Bydgoszcz from getting behind. If Zbigniew Olejasz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Tanek Ruszkowski managed to get in a good position for a shot. Polonia Bydgoszcz's supporters rose to their feet, but Tanek Ruszkowski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wladyslaw Pacholewski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half FC Gdynia were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomasz Gibowski stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tomasz Gibowski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Radomil Golaszewski came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the FC Gdynia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Radomil Golaszewski couldn't finish the play. Radomil Golaszewski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Zula Sanocki made a huge save. Zula Sanocki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zbigniew Olejasz, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Fryderyk Bartocha's late challenge caught a FC Gdynia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fryderyk Bartocha helped the player get up and apologised. Fryderyk Bartocha kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. 70 minutes into the match, Radomil Golaszewski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zula Sanocki. Polonia Bydgoszcz's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Radomil Golaszewski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. Radomil Golaszewski struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Zula Sanocki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Gdynia. Radomil Golaszewski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Zula Sanocki made a huge save. If Tanek Ruszkowski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wladyslaw Pacholewski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomasz Gibowski in the 85th minute of play. Tanek Ruszkowski took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wladyslaw Pacholewski. Wladyslaw Pacholewski dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. 91 minutes into the match, FC Gdynia's goal looked a bit too open when Tomasz Gibowski came free, but Wladyslaw Pacholewski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The FC Gdynia supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Gdynia would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
