An unexpectedly hard shot by Stefan Paprotny in the 72nd minute of play forced Mehlsack's goalkeeper Stefan Wielkopolski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Wróblówki's zone, Tadeusz Resel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Norbert Praski came out of the goal and Tadeusz Resel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Stefan Paprotny's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stefan Wielkopolski was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. Boruc Pietrowiaks short, quick shot in the 87thth minute got Stefan Wielkopolski to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
