Holstein Kiel's Stefan Fafinski got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th match minute, Karakany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aureliusz Szotek to maneuver through the defense. Napoleon Bugno stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stefan Fafinski's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. In the 15th match minute, Holstein Kiel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aleksander Lisewski to maneuver through the defense. Holstein Kiel's Stefan Fafinski got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Napoleon Bugno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stefan Fafinski, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Wit Galaska made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucjan Piszczor in the 25th minute of play. When Stefan Kaczucha fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Holstein Kiel's protests and gave Stefan Kaczucha a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Holstein Kiel getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Stefan Kaczucha hit a great ball. Stefan Fafinski blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Napoleon Bugno having to make a save. 38 minutes into the match, Stefan Fafinski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Napoleon Bugno. Karakany's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stefan Fafinski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Wit Galaska made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Ryszard Kinic sent off a good shot on target. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lucjan Piszczor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Holstein Kiel's Wit Galaska played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ryszard Kinic in the 57th minute of play. 58 minutes into the game, Jacek Madej was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Karakany's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Holstein Kiel the free kick. After 58 played minutes Karakany got a freekick which was hit by Jacek Madej. Holstein Kiel's Wit Galaska played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ryszard Kinic in the 62nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Stefan Fafinski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Napoleon Bugno was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Stefan Fafinski got in the 75th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Napoleon Bugno handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Wit Galaska took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Beniamin Tyski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wit Galaska showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucjan Golembiewski in the 79th minute of the match. In the 85th minute, Ryszard Kinic hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marian Fujara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Napoleon Bugno having to interfere. If Stefan Fafinski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Despite being the better team, Holstein Kiel failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
