The audience thought a goal was coming when Jerónimo Figueiredo got free with Waldemar Barciniak in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Norbert Jaks scored 2-0 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Waldemar Barciniak, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart.
