Hans Sandvold started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute of the match Inge Eklund sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Remi Berg skillfully saved the ball. Endre Haukaas struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Remi Berg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rustad IF. 19 minutes into the match, Hans Sandvold had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jørn Gabrielsen. Rustad IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hans Sandvold was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The audience was convinced that Endre Haukaas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Remi Berg was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Jørn Gabrielsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hans Sandvold, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Endre Haukaas came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Rustad IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Endre Haukaas couldn't finish the play. After 29 minutes of play, Rustad IF's Kim Stav made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Remi Berg was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jørn Gabrielsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hans Sandvold in the 32nd minute of the match. Rustad IF's Jørn Gabrielsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hans Sandvold in the 34th minute of play. Kim Stav received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Remi Berg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute of the match, Kim Stav got a very nice opportunity to score, but Remi Berg was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Endre Haukaas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hans Sandvold in the 58th minute of play forced Rustad IF's goalkeeper Jørn Gabrielsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Endre Haukaas put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Remi Berg. After 72 played minutes Gisløy got a freekick which was hit by Oscar Bastiansen. In the 84th match minute, Rustad IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Inge Eklund to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hans Sandvold in the 88th minute of play forced Rustad IF's goalkeeper Jørn Gabrielsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hans Sandvold scored 2-2 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jørn Gabrielsen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Hans Sandvold had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
