Kim Stavs short, quick shot in the 19thth minute got Andreas Nøttveit to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of Rustad IF booed when Godøysund was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tor Blystad didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kim Stav received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Andreas Nøttveit tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bent Brenden to strike the kick off in the second half. Rustad IF's Kim Stav got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rustad IF's Jørn Gabrielsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bent Brenden in the 60th minute of play. Bent Brenden struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Jørn Gabrielsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Godøysund. Kim Stav blasted a shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Andreas Nøttveit having to make a save. Rustad IF's Endre Haukaas got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kim Stav recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 77th minute Bent Brenden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jørn Gabrielsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Rustad IF's Jørn Gabrielsen got control of the ball when Daniel Aaland tried to sneak it across the goal line. Andreas Nøttveit showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kim Stav in the 89th minute of the match. Godøysund succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Rustad IF had controlled the match.
