Morten Benjaminsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sverre Kilen in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 29th minute of the match Gulsvik IF got a corner. Rugland BF's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Frode Arvesen ran over to the corner to take the kick. Gulsvik IF's Frode Arvesen was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Terje Visnes in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The audience was convinced that Bjørnar Kleveland's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Terje Visnes was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Rugland BF's Gjøran Høglund got a free kick in the 35th minute. Bjørnar Kleveland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bjørnar Kleveland couldn't finish the play. Gulsvik IF's Oddbjørn Persson got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tormod Lund kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. In the 68th minute Bjørnar Kleveland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Terje Visnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Terje Visnes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oddbjørn Persson in the 76th minute of the match. Morten Benjaminsen was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sverre Kilen showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 77 minute of play. Sivert Fuglestad kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Bjørnar Kleveland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terje Visnes having to interfere. Bjørnar Kleveland might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Terje Visnes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bjørnar Kleveland ran back to his position shaking his head. Oddbjørn Persson scored 2-1 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Terje Visnes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Oddbjørn Persson's late challenge caught a Rugland BF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Oddbjørn Persson helped the player get up and apologised. In the 97th match minute, Gulsvik IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oddbjørn Persson to maneuver through the defense. Rugland BF's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
